Women's Water Polo Defeats UCSD 5-4, Falls to UCLA

San Diego, Calif. - The 16th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team erased a 2-0 deficit with five consecutive goals, then held on for a 5-4 win at No. 18 UC San Diego Saturday night. Elyse Colgan scored three of Princeton's five goals.
Down 2-0 in the first quarter, the Tigers rattled off five-straight goals to swing momentum in their favor. UCSD attempted a comeback, making the score 5-4 by the end of the third quarter, but a scoreless fourth sealed the Princeton win. Natalie Kim made six saves for the win and Samantha Shaughnessy and Danielle Carlson scored the other Tiger goals.
The Tigers picked up their 14th win of the season and their second over UC San Diego this year. Earlier in the day, Princeton dropped a 17-5 decision to top-ranked UCLA. Colgan and Carlson each scored twice in the game, while Maegen Zitren added one. Both Kim and Madeline McCarthy played a half in goal and each made two saves.
Princeton continues its Spring Break trip with game today against No. 11 San Diego State and Bucknell.
