Senior Justin Reed, a member of the Princeton men's track team, and senior Chanel Lattimer, a co-captain for the Princeton women's track team, were two of nine Princeton students recognized with the 2005 "Spirit of Princeton Award."
The award, now in its 10th year, recognizes a select group of undergraduate students who have made positive contributions to the various facets of the University, including the arts, community service, student organizations, residential living, religious life and athletic endeavors.
Reed and Lattimer, along with the other seven winners, were selected from a pool of better than 100 candidates. The winners will be honored at a dinner later this semester, where they will receive a certificate and a book prize.
Reed, from Lawrence, N.J., is a Woodrow Wilson School major. Also the president of Campus Club, he was honored for his work in helping to make the Princeton campus a more welcoming place for students of many different ethnicities. On the track, Reed is a member of the Tigers' strong 4X400 relay team that should be a Heptagonal favorite come May.
Lattimer, a native of Severn, Md., was honored for her participation in community service through both her Christian fellowship and one of two historically black sororities on campus. She has been a key performer as a sprinter for Princeton on the track throughout her career and holds the school record for the 60 meter dash indoors.
