Top-Ranked Open Crew Ends '05 Regular Season Undefeated

PRINCETON - The 2005 Princeton open crew capped an impressive regular season with a sweep of Virginia and USC Saturday on its home course at Lake Carnegie. The wins gave Princeton a perfect regular season and send the Tigers to Eastern Sprints on May 15 will full momentum.
The first varsity boat finished in 6:25.2, more than two seconds faster than Virginia's time of 6:27.5. USC finished nearly eight seconds behind the No. 1 team in the country.
Princeton also got a nice win from its novice eights, which won in 7:01.4, beating Virginia by 2.7 seconds. The Cavaliers claimed wins in the second varsity eight and both varsity fours.
Princeton will now focus on defending its 2004 Eastern and Ivy League championship when it leads a deep field into the Sprints in two weekends.
