Final Stats
Boston - A quick two-goal deficit was nothing that Princeton's two Emily's couldn't handle.
Emily Behncke scored two goals and Emily Vogelzang came off the bench to make seven saves in 65 shutout minutes as the Princeton women's soccer team rallied for a 2-2 tie at Boston University Sunday afternoon.
The tie was Princeton's second in three days on its weekend trip to New England, following Friday night's 1-1 draw with No. 18 Connecticut. Princeton is now 1-3-2 on the season and 1-0-2 in its last three games, while BU is now 4-3-2.
Princeton fell behind quickly, as Boston University's Susan Marschall headed in a corner kick 4:45 into the game and Melissa Schulman converted a second opportunity 10 minutes later to make it 2-0 Terriers.
Behncke, though, continued her strong start to her senior year, scoring at 28:57 to cut the lead in half at 2-1. The goal came when Diana Matheson chiipped a ball over the BU defense and Behncke outran everyone and chipped it into the goal.
The equalizer came 20 minutes into the second half, when Behncke took a pass from Meghan Farrell and drilled a high shot into the net from 25 yards out. Behncke's two goals gave her four on the season and continued her streak of having either scored or assisted on every Princeton goal this year.
Maura Gallagher had a chance near the end of the first overtime, but her curling shot was tipped away by Terrier goalkeeper Stephanie Dreyer. BU's best chances in overtime came on a pair of free kicks, both of which sailed over the goal. Princeton, who outshot BU 16-14, opens its Ivy League season at home Saturday evening (7) against Yale in a game that will be shown on tape delay by CSTV.
