PRINCETON - Despite 17 kills and 15 digs in the home and Ivy League debut for freshman outside hitter Parker Henritze, the Princeton Tigers fell to 0-1 in the Ivy League after a 3-1 loss to the Penn Quakers Friday night at Dillon Gym.
The Tigers seemed to be in control of the match following a dominant 30-16 win in the opening game, but the Quakers took control of early momentum in game two and rode that wave for three tight games. Following a pair of 30-25 wins in games two and three, Penn watched a three-point lead late in game four evaporate to a 27-27 tie. A kill by Cara Thomason and a block by Linda Zhang and Laura Black brought the lead back to the Quakers, and a kill by Black would end the match with a 31-29 game-four win.
Henritze led the Tigers in both digs and kills, while Lauren Grumet also recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Jenny Senske had 48 assists and 11 digs for the Tigers, who hurt themselves with 10 receiving errors and 11 service errors.
The Tigers will host Division III national power Juniata Saturday night at 7 p.m.
