Vicki Anagnostopoulos Wins Ivy League Rookie of the Week
October 23, 2006 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Freshman forward/midfielder Vicki Anagnostopoulos has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for her 10-point week against American and Harvard.
Against the Crimson, Anagnostopoulos tied Princeton records with four goals and eight points as the Tigers routed the Crimson, 5-0, in Princeton's largest-ever margin of victory over Harvard in 27 meetings. She scored Princeton's first, third, fourth and fifth goals.
The offensive output against Harvard came after a two-assist game at American last Tuesday. The wins lifted Princeton's record to 6-7-1, keeping alive a chance at the Orange and Black's 10th straight winning season. Princeton visits Cornell Saturday before hosting Penn Nov. 4.
The award is Princeton's second Ivy recognition of the year after Diana Matheson, who scored two goals this week, was named Ivy League Player of the Week in September.
