Brown Blanks Women's Soccer, 4-0
October 07, 2006 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Princeton women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Brown Saturday afternoon at Lourie-Love Field, dropping the Tigers' record to 4-6-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the Ivy League.
The Tigers have started the Ivy season 0-3 for the first time since 1993 and have been kept out of the net for three straight games for the first time since 1996. Brown rises to 6-3-3, 1-1-1 in league play.
Kathryn Moos and Jill Mansfield each had a pair of goals in the first half, which ended up being more than enough for the win. The Bears outshot Princeton 12-5.
Brown scored its first goal 5:51 into the game when Lindsay Cunningham fed Moos with a pass from the left side which Moos knocked mid-air into the net off the side of her foot.
Twenty minutes later, Jill Mansfield recovered a free ball inside the 18 and had only Princeton keeper Maren Dale to beat, doing so for a 2-0 lead.
The Bears added to the lead just under 32 minutes into the game when Moos had an empty net after Dale dove trying to defend, and Moos took advantage to give her team a 3-0 lead on her second goal of the game. She leads the Bears with eight goals on the season.
Brown's fourth goal came from Mansfield with just over three minutes left in the first half when Moos found her with a crossing pass, inside the box and outside the reach of Dale.
Dale had four saves, while Brown keeper Brenna Hogue had three.
The Tigers will look to end their three-game skid Wednesday at Lourie-Love Field against Bucknell at 7 p.m.
