Women's Volleyball Rebounds With 3-0 Win At Harvard
October 08, 2006 | Women's Volleyball
The Princeton women's volleyball showed great resiliency by bouncing back from its first loss of the season with a 3-0 win at Harvard Saturday afternoon. The 30-24, 30-23, 30-23 victory over the Crimson sends Princeton to 12-1 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy League.
Sophomore Parker Henritze, the 2005 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, led all players with 19 kills and added 12 digs in the win, while fellow outside hitter Sheena Donohue recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore Lindsay Donohue completed a terrific weekend with 16 kills on 29 swings and added a pair of blocks. For the weekend, Ensign killed 34 balls and recorded only five errors.
The offense was paced by Bailey Robinson, who recorded 47 assists to go along with six digs and three kills. Junior Emily Turner led the defense with 17 digs, and she added both of Princeton's aces in the win.
Trailing 15-10 in the first game, Princeton went on a 13-2 run to grab a lead and take control of the match. Balanced offense was the key during the run, as Jessica Hoffmann and Kelli Grobe joined Henritze and Ensign with key kills. Ensign ended the first game with a kill, and Princeton built big leads in both of the final two games to cruise to victory.
Princeton will host Cornell Friday night at 7 p.m. Both Princeton and Cornell have one Ivy League loss, while Yale ends the weekend as the lone undefeated team in the league (4-0).
