PRINCETON, N.J. -- Lauren Thomas' two-goal performance in the season finale against Penn has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors, the conference office announced late Monday.
Thomas scored once in each half against the Quakers Saturday at Lourie-Love Field, putting in Princeton's only goals in a 2-0 win that ensured a 10th straight winning season. The first came in open play as Thomas dribbled through several Penn defenders inside the 18-yard box before firing with 38:20 gone in the first half. She scored on a free kick in the second half, bending the ball around Penn's wall and into the upper left corner of the goal to double Princeton's lead with just over 31 minutes to play. They were the first goals of Thomas' career.
The native Texan joins Vicki Anagnostopoulos as Tigers who have been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week this season.
