4X400 Relay, Field Winners Highlight New Year Invitational for Princeton

A terrific performance by the 4X400 meter relay team and wins in the high jump and pole vault events in the field highlighted the Princeton performances at the annual New Year Invitational Indoor Track meet held at Jadwin Gym Friday night.
The mile relay group of Matt Brock, Ian Thomson, Aaron Reed and Rich Stewart ran the eight combined laps in a time of 3:25.94, outdistancing second-place Monmouth and third-place Rider.
Andrew Park took the pole vault competition at the meet, clearing 15 feet, seven inches, while Will Byrd was the second finisher in the event at 15 feet, one inch. Alex Willis gave the Tigers another field event winner, in the high jump, leaping 2.09 meters to win the competition.
Chris Vasich was a strong performer for Princeton in the 60-meter hurdles, placing second in a time of 8.27. Vasich had run an 8.42 in the preliminaries to make the final.
Reed also finished fourth in the 500 meters individually, running the 2 1/2 laps in 1:07.48, while Stewart was fourth in the 300 meters in a time of 35.50.
Nate Crumpton place third in the triple jump competition and fourth in the long jump field, while Eric Plummer was third in the shot put competition with a toss of 16.25 meters and Alex Pessala finished fourth in the 35-lb. weight throw.
