The Princeton men's track team won four field events at Saturday's Larry Ellis Invitational and also took top honors in an extremely competitive and exciting 4X100 meter relay event.
The Tigers' foursome of Ray Lenihan, Brian Shields, Derek Davis and Bill Foran ran the 4X100 in 42.09 seconds, just edging Penn for the win. Third-place Georgetown also ran the event in less than 42 1/2 seconds.
Davis was also a winner in the long jump for Princeton, leaping an impressive 7.02 meters, the only jumper on Saturday to leap more than 23 feet.
Princeton also won the high jump, where Alex Willis was the only athlete to clear two meters, and the pole vault, where both Kyle Whitaker and Will Byrd vaulted 16 feet, one inch. In the javelin, Josh Probst had another impressive performance to win, tossing more than 205 feet.
Alex Pessala was the top collegiate performer in the hammer throw at Broadmead Field with a throw of nearly 188 feet.
On the track, Foran had strong performances in both the 100 and 200 meters in addition to the relay. His time of 10.5 was second in the 100, while his mark of 21.8 was good for second in the 200.
