Six Princeton Athletes to Compete at NCAA Women's Track East Regional
May 24, 2006 | Women's Track and Field
2006 Outdoor Heps champions Cack Ferrell and Jess Kloss will lead six Princeton women's track athletes competing at the 2006 NCAA East Regional this weekend at North Carolina A&T's Irwin Belk Track.
Ferrell will compete in the 5,000 meters in Greensboro, as will Princeton freshman Jolee van Leuven. Kloss, who dominated at Heps with a leap of 12 feet, 5 1/2 inches, will compete in the pole vault at the regional meet.
Two other Princeton distance runners will compete in this weekend's regional. Catha Mullen will run in the 1,500 meters, while school recordholder Suzanne Andrews will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Senior Jordan Wagenseller also qualified for this weekend's regional in the 800 meters.
The top five finishers in each event at the East regional are automatic qualifiers for the NCAA championship meet June 7-10 in Sacramento, Calif. The next seven finishers after that are placed in a national pool, from which anywhere from four to eight additional athletes may be selected.
Results from this weekend's meet will be available at www.ncataggies.com, and recaps will be available here at GoPrincetonTigers.com.
