Ferrell Qualifies for NCAA Championships in 5,000 Meters

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Cack Ferrell will run in another NCAA championship meet in two weeks after finishing fifth in the 5,000 meters at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Regional Friday night at Irwin Belk Track.
Ferrell's fifth-place time around the 12 1/2 laps was 16:06.21, and she defeated both Yale's Lindsay Donaldson and Cornell's Emily McCabe. The top five finishes in the regional meet qualify for the NCAA championship, to be held June 7-10 in Sacramento, Calif.
Freshman Jolee van Leuven also ran in the 5,000 for the Tigers, finishing 12th overall in 16:30.69.
In the 1,500 meters, junior Catha Mullen earned a place in Saturday's final with a time of 4:27.65 in Friday's preliminary heat. Mullen's time was the 12th and final qualifying time for the final.
Senior Jordan Wagenseller also competed for the Tigers on Friday, finishing fourth in her heat and 18th overall in the 800 meters in a time of 2:10.66.
In addition to Mullen, Princeton will have two other competitors on Saturday at the regional meet. Jess Kloss will compete in the pole vault, while Susanne Andrews will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
