Three Princeton Athletes Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams
August 15, 2006 | Men's Track and Field
Princeton men's track & field and cross country athletes Michael Maag, Frank Macreery and David Nightingale have each been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic team for the 2005-06 season.
The USTFCCCA honors individuals and teams for their academic and athletic accomplishments during the indoor and outdoor track seasons. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, an athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and must have met the NCAA Division I regional or national qualifying standard in his event.
Macreery, Maag and Nightingale all qualified for the NCAA regionals during the outdoor season in the 5,000 meters, and each finished in the top six in that event at Heptagonals in May. Macreery, the Heps champion in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters and and a 2006 graduate, had already qualified for the national meet in the 10,000 meters and finished 10th overall in that event, earning All-America honors.
Nightingale finished fifth at Heps during the cross country season and 89th overall at the NCAA cross country championship race in November. Maag finished 23rd in the NCAA regional cross country race.
