Walsh Sets Team Course Record At Princeton Invitational Men's Cross Country
October 13, 2007 | Men's Cross Country
Freshman Dennis Walsh ran the eight kilometers in 24:54.10 to set a new Princeton course record as the Tigers hosted the Princeton Invitational Saturday morning on the West Windsor Fields.
Walsh finished sixth overall and was one of just seven runners to finish the course in under 25 minutes on a cool, windy morning. The Tigers, who had their top competitors in Indiana at the Pre-Nationals meet, finished second as a team behind Georgetown in a seven-team field.
Bryan Sharkey finished eighth in a time of 25:02.50, while Rob Grote was 10th overall in the race in a time of 25:19.30. Freshman Zack Predmore had an outstanding performance with a 12th place finish in 25:21, while Rob Speare was the final Tiger scorer in 14th place in a time of 25:24.20.
Jimmy Joy also finished in the top 20 for the Tigers, placing 19th in a time of 25:34.8.
Princeton inaugurated its new cross country course at the West Windsor Fields in 2006 after running at the Princeton Battlefield for many years.
