Volleyball Runs Win Streak To 15 Matches, Sweeps Cornell 3-0
October 26, 2007 | Women's Volleyball
Junior middle Jessica Hoffmann hit .636 and classmate Parker Henritze added 12 kills and 11 digs to lead the Princeton women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over three-time defending Ivy League champion Cornell Friday night at Newman Arena. The win, Princeton's 15th in a row, keeps the Tigers in first place in the league by two matches over Penn and Yale, both of which also won Friday night.
Princeton's 2006 championship dreams ended in a 3-0 loss at Cornell last season. Those dreams are alive and well in 2007, and they grew only stronger with a dominant performance Friday evening. Princeton took the match 30-20, 30-22, 30-19 to complete the season sweep of the Big Red.
Hoffmann had seven kills in 11 swings with no errors, while fellow middle and Ivy League leading hitter Lindsey Ensign added 13 kills while hitting .320. Sophomore outside Sheena Donohue led all Princeton players with 16 kills while adding seven digs. Ivy League assist leader Bailey Robinson paced the offense with 46 assists, while senior libero Jenny McReynolds recorded 14 digs.
Princeton is now 8-0 in league play for the first time in program history, and it will look to build on that start Saturday at 4 p.m. against Columbia in New York City. The Tigers won the first meeting between the two teams by a 3-1 margin.
