Ivy Champ Volleyball Runs Win Streak To 19 Straight, Stands One Win Away From More History
November 10, 2007 | Women's Volleyball
One day after clinching the 2007 Ivy League title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, the Princeton women's volleyball team kept up its winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Yale. Sheena Donohue had a match-best 25 kills for Princeton, which can be the first team in Ivy League history to finish a season 14-0 in league play with a Wednesday night win at Penn.
Princeton clinched the title and NCAA bid Friday night with a win over Brown and Yale's victory over Penn, but the Tigers refused to let down after the excitement. Donohue led the offense with 25 kills, while junior teammates Lindsey Ensign and Parker Henritze combined for 32 assists. Henritze recorded 21 kills, 17 digs and five aces, while senior Jenny McReynolds led all players with 29 digs. NCAA assist leader Bailey Robinson recorded 56 assists and 12 digs in the win.
Princeton will compete at Penn Wednesday night at 7:00; the Quakers took Princeton to the limit in the Ivy League opener before the Tigers claimed a 3-2 win. The NCAA tournament field will be announced Sunday night, Nov. 25, at 8 p.m., and the competition will begin the following week at various campus sites.
