National Champ Women's Squash Opens Season With 9-0 Win At Cornell
November 18, 2007 | Women's Squash
It may have been a revamped lineup, but the Princeton women's squash team experienced the same old success Sunday at Cornell. With Neha Kumar playing No. 1 and newcomers Emery Maine and Nikki Sequeira winning their collegiate debuts, Princeton moved to 1-0 with a 9-0 victory over the Big Red.
Kumar, a 2007 national semifinalist, defeated Jenn Gemmell 9-3, 9-3, 9-1 at the No. 1 position, while classmates Amanda Siebert (No. 2) and Kaitlin Sennatt (No. 4) both claimed wins. Maine played No. 3 and won a pair of tight games in a 9-5, 9-0, 10-8. Sequeira's first collegiate win came much easier, as she dropped only one point in her victory at No. 8.
Margaret Kent, Maggie O'Toole, Carly Grabowski and Aly Brady also claimed 3-0 wins for the women's squash team.
