Open Women Sweep Rutgers, Columbia In Second Regatta Of Season

The Princeton open women bounced back from a tough season opener to sweep Rutgers and Columbia in New Brunswick Saturday. The Tigers took four races, including a varsity eight win by more than 16 seconds. Princeton will travel to Ithaca, N.Y., next weekend to compete against host Cornell and Harvard.
The Tigers won the varsity eight in 6:28.6, while Columbia placed second in 6:44.9 and Rutgers took third in 6:46.3. The Tiger second varsity added an impressive win in 6:46.2, more than 12 seconds faster than Rutgers' second-place time.
Princeton does not have a novice eight, but its novice four won by more than 24 seconds over Columbia. The Princeton freshmen finished in 7:47.1, while neither of its rivals finished in less than 8:12. The Tigers also swept both 4s, finishing in 7:35.9 and 7:56.6.
