Monmouth Downs Princeton 8-3 in Baseball
April 10, 2007 | Baseball
PRINCETON -- Senior Aaron Prince homered and drove in all three Princeton runs in an 8-3 loss to Monmouth Tuesday afternoon at Clarke Field. Prince hit a two-run homer in the third inning and drove in a run with a groundout in the eighth.
After Monmouth took a 1-0 lead in its first at bat, the Tigers gained the lead in the third on Prince's second home run of the season, a line drive shot that landed in the trees in left field. The run came with two outs and just after sophomore Dan DeGeorge reached by walking. The homer was Princeton's first hit of the game.
Monmouth evened the score at 2-2 with a run in the fourth inning and went ahead for good with a three-run fifth inning and a two-run sixth. The Hawk pitching held the Tigers bats to just five hits in the game. In addition to Prince, junior Spencer Lucian, DeGeorge, junior Micah Kaplan and freshman Jon Broscious had hits in the game.
Kyle Breese pitched seven innings for the win, while senior Michael Zaret took the loss for Princeton.
Princeton is now 8-16 overall and returns to action this weekend with four games at home against Columbia.
