Reyner Named CWPA Player of the Week
April 19, 2007 | Women's Water Polo
PRINCETON -- Senior Karina Reyner was named the CWPA's Player of the Week on Tuesday for her performance during Princeton's weekend sweep of league foes Bucknell and George Washington. Reyner scored seven goals over the weekend to pace the Tigers.
The senior began her weekend with a four-goal performance in Friday's 12-9 win at Bucknell. Reyner opened the scoring for the Tigers and scored three of her four goals in the first half. She also had three steals in the game. The next day Reyner scored three times in a 10-7 win over George Washington, again opening the scoring for Princeton. Reyner now sits second on the team in scoring with 43 goals.
Princeton's two wins completed the Tigers' perfect league season. The Tigers were 6-0 in league games, sweeping all three opponents. Because of that performance, the Tigers will enter this weekend's Southern Championships as the top seed and will face George Washington in the semifinal round on Saturday at 10 a.m., in a game played at Maryland.
Reyner is Princeton's third league player of the week this season. Classmate Samantha Shaughnessy and junior Natalie Kim were previous winners.
