Three Princeton Athletes Qualify For NCAA Regionals at Larry Ellis Distance Races

Five Princeton track athletes ran NCAA regional qualifying times, including both men's and women's runners in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 1,500 meters, on an exciting night of distance racing Friday at the 2007 Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Track & Field Stadium.
Two Tiger men were among the five runners who came in below the NCAA regional qualifying time of 9:07 in the steeplechase. Bryan Sharkey was one of two competitors to finish the race in under nine minutes, placing second in a time of 8:59.16, while Brett Campfield was fourth overall in Friday night's race in a time of 9:04.56.
On the women's side, Reilly Kiernan was the top collegiate finisher in the race by more than 10 seconds, easily coming in below the regional qualifying time of 10:50.25 with a final time of 10:30.56 for the 3,000 meters.
Senior Caroline Mullen also qualified for regionals with a strong finish in the women's 1,500-meter race, while James O'Toole qualified on the men's side in the 1,500 meters. Mullen was third in the women's race in 4:26.74, less than half a second behind the top time Friday night, while O'Toole's regional qualifying time of 3:45.69 was one of 13 qualifying times in a strong 1,500-meter field.
