April 27, 2007 | Women's Water Polo
Five Tigers received all-conference honors from the CWPA on Friday, including senior Elyse Colgan, who won her fourth CWPA Southern Most Valuable Player Award, becoming the first player to claim conference most valuable player honors in all four years of her career.
Colgan leads Princeton in scoring with 69 goals in 26 games this season. Those numbers rank 16th in the nation and are tops of any Southern Division player. She was also named first-team All-South for the fourth time. Joining Colgan on the Southern first-team was senior Karina Reyner, whose 47 goals ranks second on the team. Reyner was a second-team selection last season.
Three Tigers, senior Jazmin Brown, junior Natalie Kim and freshman Phoebe Champion, received second-team honors. Brown earned recognition for third time in her career and has 25 goals and 13 assists for Princeton this season. Kim also received her third Southern recognition as she was a first-team selection as a freshman and sophomore. Kim is 13-6 in the Tiger cage this season and has a .556 save percentage. Champion completes the group as she scored 35 goals in 22 games as a freshman. She is the first Tiger freshman to earn All-Southern honors since Kim two seasons ago.
Princeton enters the Eastern Championships this weekend as the Tigers compete for the CWPA's NCAA tournament bid. Princeton starts the tournament at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon against Maryland.
