May 13, 2007 | Men's Track and Field
Princeton sent its top field event standouts to the IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at Weaver Stadium, where Heps high jump champion Justin Frick did it one better with a winning performance of the NCAA qualifiying variety.
Frick contributed 10 of Princeton's 21 points in the championship with his leap of 7 feet, 1/4 inch or 2.14 meters, the only clearance of seven feet on the day. He had reached the regional qualifying mark of 2.10 meters (6-10 3/4) last weekend with his Heps championship.
Senior pole vaulter Andrew Park equalled his Heps mark of 5.05 meters (16 feet, 6 3/4 inches) to finish fourth in the event at this weekend's meet, an NCAA regional qualifying mark. Sophomore Alex Pessala was sixth in the hammer throw at the IC4A meet with a throw of more than 190 feet.
On the track, the Tigers would get points in both the 100 and 200 meters from Shafiq Kashmiri, who qualified in 10.73 in the 100 and then ran 10.99 in the final and also qualified in the 200 in 21.64.
Athletes from 44 teams competed at the IC4A championship meet this weekend at Weaver Stadium. Liberty University was the team champion with 77 points, just ahead of second-place Virginia.
