Princeton Announces Men's Track & Field and Cross Country Class of 2011
July 18, 2007 | Men's Cross Country, Men's Track and Field
19 members of the Princeton Class of 2011 will join the men's track & field and cross country teams at Princeton beginning in the fall of 2007. The complete 19-member group can be found at the above link and here.
The group features student-athletes from 11 states and from every discipline on the track and in the field events.
"We think this is an excellent class that will help us as we strive to continue our success from last season," says head coach Fred Samara. "Not only is it varied from throughout the country but it hits almost every event."
Princeton nearly earned a sweep of the Ivy League Heptagonal events during the 2006-07 academic year, winning the cross country championship in October and the indoor track & field title in February before finishing in second place at the outdoor Heps championships in May.
Since 1980, the Princeton men's track & field and cross country programs have won 34 Heptagonal titles, 15 more than the next highest number among Ivy schools.
The 2007-08 Princeton men's track and cross country season begins Sept. 8 when the Tigers take part in the Fordham Cross Country Invitational.
