September 14, 2007 | Women's Volleyball
After falling 3-0 to Liberty in the opening match of the Villanova Tournament, the Princeton women's volleyball team bounced back to sweep William & Mary Friday evening to split the opening day. Junior middle Lindsey Ensign led all Princeton players with 25 kills in the two matches.
Sophomore outside Sheena Donohue led Princeton with 14 kills in the nightcap, which Princeton won 30-21, 30-24, 30-19. Both Ensign and junior outside Parker Henritze recorded 12 kills apiece, while senior libero Jenny McReynolds led all players with 21 digs. Junior Bailey Robinson again controlled the offense with 45 assists.
Princeton hit at least .200 in every game, including a match-best .340 in the middle game. William & Mary led the opening game 18-13 when Donohue recorded a kill. The sophomore then served a 7-0 run that gave the Tigers a lead they would never relinquish. The Tigers trailed briefly at the beginning of the second game, but held a lead the rest of the night and claimed an impressive 3-0 win.
Princeton didn't have an answer for the Liberty offense in the opener. The Flames hit above .300 in the first two games of a 30-26, 30-23, 30-25 victory. Ensign had a team-best 13 kills for Princeton, while Henritze added 12.
Princeton will face Binghamton and Villanova Saturday.
