Ivies ahead
Wednesday's game is Princeton's last before beginning the Ivy League season Saturday at Dartmouth.
Saint Joseph's recap
Princeton
picked up its first win of the season Sunday against Saint Joseph's,
scoring a goal in each half. Jen Om and Vicki Anagnostopoulos each had
their second goals of the season in the victory as Princeton outshot
its foe 30-3, including 18 shots on goal.
Finding their touch
After not scoring for the season's first 310:04, Princeton has scored five goals in the last 259:27.
Our house
The Tigers have not allowed a goal in 200 minutes at home this season. Princeton is undefeated in its last four games on campus.
New foes
Sacred Heart is the last in a four-game stretch of first-time opponents for Princeton.
Getting on track
Sophomore
Vicki Anagnostopoulos was Princeton's second-leading scorer a year ago
and has scored a goal in each of the last two games after battling
injuries that forced her to miss Princeton's first two games.
Nutmeg State
Princeton
is 24-15-3 all-time against five Connecticut schools, including Central
Connecticut State, Connecticut, Fairfield, Hartford and Yale. At home,
Princeton is 13-6-1 against those schools. Wednesday's game is just the
third home game against a Connecticut school other than Yale since 1987.
More Connecticut
After Wednesday's game, Princeton will have played six of the seven Connecticut
schools that sponsor Division I women's soccer. Quinnipiac is the only
Nutmeg State school not to face the Tigers.
Shuffling the order
Fourteen
Tigers have earned starts in the six games this season with nine
starting every contest so far. Princeton has used four distinct
starting lineups on the season.
All feet on deck
Every
non-goalkeeper on the roster, other than Diana Matheson who will be
returning from the Women's World Cup, has seen action for Princeton
this season, including all six non-goalkeeper freshmen.
38 and counting...
Junior
defender Taylor Numann, a first-team All-Ivy honoree in 2006, has
started every game of her career, a streak 38 contests long.
Chasing history
Princeton
head coach Julie Shackford has been the all-time winningest women's
soccer coach at the school since 2000, her sixth season on the job. She
is just three wins from becoming the all-time winningest soccer coach,
men's or women's, at Princeton. With 134 wins, Shackford is two behind
Jimmy Reed, who coached the men's squad from 1938-66.
Common opponents
Princeton
and Sacred Heart will face three of the same teams this season, though
none of those opponents have already taken on both the Tigers and the
Pioneers. Sacred Heart fell to Bucknell and Yale, which Princeton will
face Oct. 31 and Nov. 11, respectively, and the Pioneers will take on
Brown Oct. 24. Princeton will meet the Bears Oct. 6 in Providence.
On Sacred Heart
Three
players have Sacred Heart's three goals this season, including seniors
Allison Rojas and Lisa Nowakowski and freshman Leigh Dogmantis. Rookie
goaltender Megan Reichelt has been in net for all 750 minutes.
Steady keeper
Princeton goalkeeper Maren Dale has started the Tigers' last 22 games and has a goals-against average of 1.11 in that span.
