Volleyball Sweeps Columbia To Run Ivy Win Streak To 17 Matches

Led by All-Ivy seniors Lindsey Ensign and Parker Henritze, the Princeton women's volleyball team swept Columbia 3-0 to improve to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League. Princeton has now won 17 straight Ivy League matches and will head to the site of its last league loss, Newman Arena at Cornell.
Princeton pulled out a hard-fought first set before cruising to a 25-23, 25-8, 25-16 victory. Ensign recorded 11 kills on 21 swings and hit .476 for the match, and she added a pair of blocks on the defensive end. Henritze led all players with 14 blocks, hit. 323 and recorded two aces. Classmate Bailey Robinson led the offense with 36 assists, and she added eight digs.
Freshman libero Hillary Ford led Princeton with 17 digs, while junior outside Sheena Donohue recorded 10 digs to go along with her nine kills. Another impressive freshman performance came from middle Cathryn Quinn, who had eight kills and no errors in a .667 hitting performance. As a team, Princeton hit .317, including a match-best .536 in the second game.
The last time Princeton lost an Ivy League match was during the final Ivy weekend of the 2006 season, when a senior-laden Cornell squad claimed a 3-0 win to clinch the Ivy League title. The current Cornell team is 3-0 in the league after topping Penn 3-1 Friday night; the Big Red shares first place with both Yale and Harvard.
