Men and Women's Cross Country Teams Inch Forward in Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. (10/21/08) ? The Princeton University women's cross country team moved up one place in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll, it was announced by the organization on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
The Tigers are ranked No. 4 in the poll after earning a first-place tie in at the Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Terre Haute, Ind. The top-three teams, Washington, Oregon and Florida State all stayed the same, while the former No. 4, Minnesota, slipped three slots. West Virginia gained ground, moving up two places to No. 5.
The men's team is once again receiving votes in the national poll, after winning the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 18. The Tigers earned 14 points in the poll, the most points by a team not ranked in the top 30.
For the fourth straight week the women's team is ranked No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic regional poll. The men are No. 2, their highest ranking of the season.
Both teams are off from competition this weekend but will compete for their third straight Ivy League title at Heptagonals on Friday, Oct. 31.
