BETHLEHEM, Pa. (10/3/08) ? Members of both the Princeton University men and women's cross country teams competed at the Paul Short Invitational on the campus of Lehigh University on Friday, Oct. 3.
The men's team finished 25th in the brown division of the 8K race, with a score of 654, averaging a time of 25:27. Junior Elliot Welder paced the Tigers with a time of 25:13, followed by freshman Trevor Van Ackeren at 25:22. Four seconds later, classmate Peter Maag crossed the line at 25:26. Junior Jimmy Joy covered the course in 25:34, sophomore Zach Predmore came in at 25:43 and freshman Joe Stilin at 25:48.
Wisconsin had the best team score, followed by Syracuse and Villanova in second and third place. Liberty's Sam Chelanga crossed the line first at 23:05. In second was Iona's Andrew Ledwith at 23:43, and Wisconsin's Landon Peacock finished third at 23:46.
The invitational also held races for individual runners, sans team scores.
Three athletes ran in the men's 8K race. Sophomore Kyle Soloff came in at 11th place with a time of 25:18. Freshmen Thomas Dialynas and Tyler King also competed, finishing at 26:03 and 26:36, respectively.
In the women's 6K race, sophomore Brook Russell represented Princeton with a 15th-place finish with a time of 22:12. Freshman Rachel Park posted a time of 23:16.
The rest of the men and women's teams are competing at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
