Costello Earns All-America Honors
November 25, 2008 | Women's Cross Country
PRINCETON, N.J. (11/25/08) ? Junior Liz Costello of the Princeton women's cross country team was named All-America by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association on Monday, Nov. 24.
This is Costello's second All-America honor but first in the sport of cross country. She earned her first award during the 2007 indoor track and field season in the distance medley relay.
A three-time first-team All-Ivy selection, Costello has been Princeton's top runner for the past two seasons. This year she won her second Ivy League Heptagonal title, giving Princeton its third straight team championship. At the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, Costello sprinted to pass another runner in the final stretch to take second place. Her position helped the Tigers to a first-place tie and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. She placed 11th at the national championship and helped Princeton a fifth-place finish, the best finish in program history.
