Women's Water Polo Downs Wagner 11-6

PRINCETON - The 18th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team used a three-goal second quarter to pull away and defeat Wagner 11-6 on Wednesday night at DeNunzio Pool. Four Tigers scored twice in the win.
The teams traded two goals in the opening period, before Princeton pulled ahead with three in the second to lead 5-2 at the half. Princeton maintained its lead from there as it pulled out its third win of the young season.
Sophomores Lauren Sabb and Phoebe Champion, along with freshmen Sarah Hutchison and Julie Phillips scored twice in the Princeton win. Sabb now leads the team with 10 goals scored in five games this season. Also adding goals in the win were freshmen Tanya Wilcox and Lauren Brunner and sophomore Helen Meigs.
Both of Princeton's goalkeepers saw action in the win. Senior Natalie Kim played the first three quarters and stopped eight of 12 shots on goal. Freshman Christina Michel made three saves in the final quarter.
The victory moved the Tigers to 3-2 overall as the team split its games during last weekend's Princeton Invitational. Princeton is back in action on Friday night against Slippery Rock at the Maryland Invitational, and then takes on St. Francis and Iona on Saturday.
