February 08, 2008 | Women's Ice Hockey
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Junior Annie Greenwood scored twice as the Princeton women's hockey team defeated Yale 2-1 at Ingalls Rink on Friday night. Greenwood's game winner came on the power play 7:06 into the third period.
The win moved Princeton to 12-8-4 overall and 10-6-1 in the league. The win, coupled with a Dartmouth tie, moved Princeton into a tie with the Big Green for the fourth spot in the ECAC Hockey standings.
Greenwood gave Princeton a 1-0 lead at 13:05 of the first period when her shot hit off the post high on Yale goaltender Shivon Zilis' glove side and ricocheted into the goal.
Yale battled back to tie the game three minutes later when Bray Ketchum shoved a rebound in for a goal. From that point the score remained tied until Greenwood again found the back of the net.
Skating with a player-advantage, senior Brittany Salmon put a shot on net that Salmon lunged at and knocked into the net for 11th goal of the season. Junior Katherine Dineen also assisted on the goal.
Yale outshot Princeton 27-25 but junior goaltender Kristen Young made 26 saves for the win, while Zilis made 23 saves in the loss.
