Navy Scores Late to Top Baseball 6-3

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy scored three runs over its last two at bats to defeat the Princeton baseball team 6-3 on Friday afternoon at Max Bishop Stadium. Sophomore Jack Murphy had two hits in the game for Princeton.
Navy went ahead with three runs in the third inning, but the Tigers got one back in the fourth inning when sophomore David Hale hit a sac fly to right field that scored junior Adrian Turnham. Princeton for two more runs in the fifth to even the score at 3-3. Junior Derek Beckman scored the second run on a delayed steal of home and freshman Matt Connor singled to plate the other run.
Tied at 3-3 in the seventh, Navy went ahead with two runs by putting together two triples and a single. Navy's final run came in the eighth inning for the 6-3 final.
Freshman Dan Barnes took the loss, allowing five runs in 6.2 innings. Freshman David Palms allowed a run in 1.1 innings of work. Oliver Drake got the win for Navy.
The teams continue their series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 12 noon.
