Tigers Edged in Series Finale at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy scored two runs in the first inning and one in the third inning to edge the Princeton baseball team 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a four-game set between the teams at Max Bishop Stadium. Junior Dan DeGeorge led the game off with a home run for Princeton.
Princeton got out to the 1-0 lead when DeGeorge started the game with a solo homer to left field on a 1-1 pitch. Navy bounced right back though in the bottom of the inning with two runs to lead 2-1 after one frame. Mitch Harris doubled in the first run of the game for the Midshipmen, and then scored the second run on a wild pitch.
Navy added a run to its lead in the third inning when three consecutive singles resulted in a run. Jonathan Berkowitz hit the third one to plate Thomas Hamilton. Princeton moved back within a run in the fifth but could get no closer in the 3-2 loss. That run came when junior Adrian Turnham scored on from third on sophomore Jack Murphy's groundout.
Senior Steven Miller suffered the loss as he allowed three runs on six hits in five innings. Junior Brad Gemberling tossed the final three innings, striking out five and allowing a single hit. Navy's Drew Carlson took the win and J.D. Melton got the save.
Princeton completes is Spring Break trip with a 7-9 overall record. Princeton returns to action on Wednesday afternoon at Rutgers.
