March 28, 2008 | Women's Water Polo
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell scored three unanswered goals to rally for a 6-5 win over the 16th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team on Friday night in Lewisburg. Sophomore Lauren Sabb and freshman Tanya Wilcox each scored two goals in the loss.
Each team scored once in the first quarter and Princeton went ahead at the half by a 2-1 score. Princeton maintained the one-goal margin to lead 4-3 after three quarters and a goal early in the final frame gave Princeton a 5-3 lead with less than five minutes to play. At that point, Bucknell was able to kill off a Princeton 6 on 5, then countered to get back within a goal, and continued its run to move ahead 6-5.
Princeton had two more man-up situations in the closing two minutes but could not convert, and Bucknell was able to take the win. Princeton finished the game 1 for 9 with the player advantage.
Sabb scored her team-leading 31st and 32nd goals of the season, while Wilcox's two goals give her 21 for the year. Freshman Sarah Hutchison scored once and has 14 goals this season. Senior goalkeeper Natalie Kim made 12 saves in the loss.
Princeton falls to 12-9 overall and 0-1 in the CWPA South with the loss. Princeton is back in action next Saturday, April 5 at home with games against Bucknell and Maryland.
