Crumpton, Pessala Reach NCAA Regional Qualifying Standards At Larry Ellis Invitational

Two Tigers in the field events, Nick Crumpton in the triple jump and Alex Pessala in the hammer throw, reached NCAA regional qualifying standards for Princeton on the second day of the Larry Ellis Invitational Saturday at Weaver Stadium.
Crumpton had the top collegiate mark of the day with a leap of 49 feet, 4 1/4 inches and was the only competitor to reach the qualifying standard. Pessala reached the standard with plenty to spare with a toss of more than 202 feet; his was the second-best collegiate mark of the day.
On the track, Shafiq Kashmiri had strong performances in both the 100 and 200 meters for Princeton. In the 100, his 10.63 was fifth-best among college runners; in the 200, his 21.64 was the third fastest among college performers.
Freshman Mike Eddy also had a strong sprint performance for Princeton, finishing third among collegiate runners in the 400 meters in a time of 48.04. The Tigers also had three of the top four times on the day in the 800 meters, led by Jeff Carbonella's time of 1:53.85.
In the 400 hurdles, Tom Zozokos time of 53.14 was fourth-best on the day. In the high jump, both Justin Frick and Ian Fox had marks of 6-9 3/4 to lead the way on Saturday.
