Late Goal Lifts Women's Water Polo Past Bucknell

Princeton scored the game's first goal, but two-straight scores by the Bison gave Bucknell a 2-1 lead midway through the first quarter. Princeton battled to tie the game at 2-2 by the end of the first quarter and never trailed again in the one-goal win. Following the first quarter, the game was delayed approximately 20 minutes when the power in the Natatorium went out.
Princeton
outscored Bucknell 3-1 in the second quarter to lead 5-3 at the half. Bucknell
then scored two quick goals to tie the game early in the third and the game stayed
tight from there. Princeton scored with the
player advantage late in the third to lead 6-5 after three periods, but a
Bucknell goal on an ejection evened the game up early in the following quarter.
Tied at 6-6, freshman Tanya Wilcox broke the stalemate when she scored on an ejection with 1:56 to play to go
ahead 7-6 and secure the win. Senior Natalie Kim made 12 saves in the win.
The game was the fourth one-goal contest played this season between Princeton and Bucknell. The Bison won the first game 6-5 and Princeton took the next three, 7-6, 10-9 and 7-6. Princeton is now 19-10 overall this season and will take on 11th-ranked Michigan tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in the Eastern semifinals.
