Track & Field Teams To Host 11th Annual Sam Howell Invitational

Princeton's track & field teams host the 11th annual Sam Howell Memorial Invitational Friday and Saturday at Weaver Track & Field Stadium as the outdoor season gets into full swing. Complete results will be available at GoPrincetonTigers.com after each day of competition.
Men's and women's teams from 17 schools, as well as individual athletes from other institutions, will compete in the two-day meet that begins with the women's hammer throw at 4 p.m. Fri., April 4. Running events on Sat., April 5, begin at noon with the women's 4X100-meter relay; Saturday's field events begin at 11 a.m. with the men's hammer throw.
For the third straight season, Friday night will be reserved for a collection of outstanding distance races featuring top competitors with national aspirations. The Friday distance events begin with the men's steeplechase at 5:30 p.m. There will also be men's and women's races in the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters Friday night.
The Princeton women, who have won the Ivy League Heptagonal championship in both cross country and indoor track & field this season, participated in a meet at Disney's Wide World of Sports during Spring Break but will be competing closer to home for the first time this spring.
The Tiger men took a group of athletes to a quadrangular meet at the Naval Academy last weekend with the host Midshipmen, Penn and Colgate. The Tigers won four events on the day, three in the field and another by Tom Zozokos in the 400-meter hurdles.
Princeton will also host the Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Track April 18-19 and the Princeton Elite Meet May 2-3. For the third straight season, the ECAC/IC4A Track & Field Championships are also at Weaver Stadium, May 16-18.
