Nemeth and Pardi Join Field Hockey Staff
August 19, 2008 | Field Hockey
Allison Nemeth, a former first-team All-Ivy goalkeeper at Princeton, and Homero Pardi, an experienced assistant coach at the collegiate level, have joined the staff of the Princeton field hockey team for the upcoming 2008 season.
Nemeth will work primarily with the team's goalkeepers after spending the 2007 season as the goalkeeping coach at the University of Pennsylvania.
“We are very excited to have Allison back with the Tigers,” says Princeton head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn. “She was a tremendous leader, skilled goalkeeper and one of the most competitive athletes I have ever coached. I have had the opportunity to see Ali in action as a coach during the past year and have found her to be a very effective teacher of the position. She has a fire and a passion that I have always appreciated and I know she will be a very special addition to the staff.”
During her time at Princeton, Nemeth received the Ivy League Rookie of the Year Award in 2003 and was a first-team All-Ivy selection as a senior. As a captain of the team in her senior year, Princeton earned its third Ivy League Championship in four seasons and went on to upset third-seeded Old Dominion in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Nemeth also participated in USA Field Hockey's Women's National Championships and was a member of the PA/NJ National Championship team in 2007.
Nemeth received an A.B. in Anthropology from Princeton in 2007, along with a certificate in American Studies. She is currently pursuing a M.S. in Sport Management at Drexel University.
Pardi brings six years of collegiate experience into his first season at Princeton. Pardi most recenetly served as an assist at Georgetown for the past four seasons. Prior to Georgetown, Pardi was an assistant coach at Kent State for two years. Pardi brings both international playing and coaching experience to Princeton. He was head coach of the British School of Caracas from 1998 to 2002 and guided the Venezuelan men's and women's national indoor field hockey teams in 2002.
“We feel extraordinarily lucky to have a volunteer as knowledgeable and skilled as Homero,” says Holmes-Winn. “Homero was an assistant coach at both Georgetown and Kent State where he was intimately involved in every aspect of the program. He spent the last year back in his home country of Caracas, playing and coaching. He offers a high level of expertise and his competitive nature and passion for winning will fit in well here at Princeton.”
A member of several Venezuelan national teams, Pardi was on the Indoor Pan American Cup team in 2002 and played in the America's Cup in 2000. He participated in the Junior Pan American Championship in 1996 and 2000, and played in the Pan American Clubs Championship from 1999 to 2001. Pardi also participated in the Central American and Caribbean Games, where he helped his team finish fourth overall. In May 2004, Pardi played in the Pan American Cup in Canada. Pardi has been a director of the Venezuelan Field and Indoor Hockey League, and has worked at several instructional camps. He is a native of Caracas, Venezuela, and studied business administration at Universidad Santa Maria.
