Women's Cross Country Hosts Old Nassau Run on Sept. 13

PRINCETON, N.J. (9/11/08) ? The Princeton University women's cross country team kicks off the 2008 season on Saturday, Sept. 13, hosting the Old Nassau Run. The women will run a 6k, on West Windsor Fields, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Old Nassau Run was last held in 2006, and featured just four teams. This year 170 runners from a dozen teams will compete.
The Tigers return 11 members from last year's team, including its top runner, junior Liz Costello. Costello is the 2007 Ivy League Champion and finished second at the NCAA regional meet. On her heels is classmate Christy Johnson. Johnson took second at the Ivy League Heps and was the No. 5 finishers at regionals. The duo will be flanked by all-Ivy League senior captains Jolee VanLeuven and Megan Brandeland, and sophomores Ashley Higginson and Sarah Cummings.
On top of his already talented squad, head coach Pete Farrell has brought in four newcomers: freshmen Alex Banfich and Rachel Park, and upperclassmen Amanda Hudson and Melissa Swigert, who have been members of the Princeton's track and field teams.
