Women's Cross Country Tops in the Region, No. 7 in the Nation

PRINCETON, N.J. (9/17/08) ? The Princeton University women's cross country team is ranked in the preseason U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) polls, it was announced by the organization on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
The Tigers were selected No. 7 in the nation and No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Princeton received 276 points in the national poll, that ranks the top 30 Division I programs. Oregon, Florida State, Washington, Stanford, Arizona State and West Virginia were selected ahead of Princeton. The squad finished the 2007 season ranked No. 4 in the nation.
In the regional poll, Princeton took the top honors followed by West Virginia and Georgetown in second and third place, respectively.
The Tigers finished third at the Old Nassau Run last weekend, led by junior Liz Costello.
Princeton is off this weekend but returns to competition on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they run against Harvard and Yale in New Haven, Conn.
