Speare Finishes Strong at NCAA Championship

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (11/23/09) - Junior captain Rob Speare of the Princeton men's cross country competed at the NCAA Championship on Monday, Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Speare finished the 10k race in 31:09.5 to place 123rd out of the 250 harriers that ran the race. It was his first time competing in the national competition, having qualified at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
Samuel Chelanga of Liberty had a substantial lead the entire race and finished in a time of 28:41.3, with a 25-second margin of victory. Oklahoma State took first place, over the favorite Stanford which finished 10th overall. Oregon claimed second, followed by Alabama in third place.
