Eight Named All-Ivy League in Cross Country

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/4/09) - Eight members of the Princeton cross country teams earned All-Ivy League status it was announced by the Ivy League office on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The all-league selections were determined at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship at Van Cortlandt Park, with the top seven runners being named to the first team and the next seven across the line being named to the second team.
Seniors Liz Costello and Reilly Kiernan, juniors Sarah Cummings and Ashley Higginson and freshman Alex Banfich were all named first-team All-Ivy. This is the second time that Banfich, Cummings and Kiernan have been named first-team, while Costello is a three-time selection. Higginson earns the honor for the first time of her career.
On the men's side, sophomores Brian Leung and Donn Cabral captured first-team honors, while junior captain Rob Speare made the second-team. This is Leung's second time being named first-team All-Ivy while Cabral and Speare pick up their first honors.Both teams will compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, Nov. 14 on the campus of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
