Seitz Named NSCAA Second-Team All-Region
December 08, 2009 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON -- Princeton senior defender Melissa Seitz was selected as one of 33 players from across the Mid-Atlantic to be named to the NSCAA all-region team, another first-time honor that comes a few weeks after Seitz was honored with a place on the first-team All-Ivy League.
Seitz captained a defense that held Ivy League opponents to a league-low total of five goals in Ivy matches, including a shutout list that counted Brown, Columbia, Cornell and league champion Harvard. On the season, Princeton had eight shutouts, all in its last 11 games. The defense helped goalkeeper Alyssa Pont to her second straight first-team all-league honor and a goals-against average of 0.78 overall and 0.66 in Ivy games.
Seitz, who played every minute of her last three seasons, scored her first career goal as a senior, coming on a penalty kick Sept. 29 against Fairfield.
