Princeton Open Set for Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/5/09) ? The Princeton indoor men and women's track and field teams host the Princeton Open at Jadwin Gym on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Visiting teams include: Delaware, Lehigh, Loyola, Manhattan, Monmouth, The College of New Jersey, St. John's and St. Peter's.
The event gets underway at 10:30 a.m., beginning with the men's 35 lb. weight throw and the women's long jump. The final event, the women's 4x400 relay is scheduled for 2:50 p.m.

The Princeton men's team took top honors in eight of the 16 events from last season's meet. Andrew Usoro won the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 6.99, while Mike Eddy finished the 500 meter in 1:05.64. Michael Maag was first in the 1,000 meters and Ben Sitler finished the mile in 4:12.61. The 4x400 relay team also posted a win. Justin Frick, Dion Lehman and Garner McCloud won their event, the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Winning the pole vault was Derek Hynes, who entered the meet as an individual but is now a freshman on the Tigers' roster.
The Princeton women captured nine first-place victories. In the 200, Agatha Offorjebe posted a winning time of 25.22, while Liz Costello finished the 500 in 2:12.99. Alexa Glencer clocked in at 3:03.41 in the 1,000 and the 4x400 relay team also won. Jessica Kloss, Isabell von Loga and Thanithia Billings won the pole vault, shot put and weight throw, respectively. The Tigers also won the 400 and 800.
Both teams will send selected individuals to the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at The Armory in New York City on Feb. 6-7.
