New Balance ResultsPRINCETON, N.J. (2/8/09) ? The Princeton women's track and field team earned six first-place finishes at the Princeton Open on Saturday,
Feb. 7 at Jadwin Gym.
The Tigers had six runners qualify for the finals of the
60-meter dash and those six placed one through six in the final race. Taking
top honors was freshman Eileen Moran who recorded a 7.2 second hand-time run.
Senior Agatha Offorjebe and freshman Sarah Houtmann placed second and third
with times of 7.5 and 7.7, respectively.
Moran continued her hot streak in the 200-meter crossing the
line at 25.74 for first place. Freshman Danielle Glaeser took second place at
26.41, and Houtmann followed at 26.42 for third.
Freshman Michelle Yousefian and junior Rachel Rosenthal
finished one-two in the 500-meter run. Yousefian came in at 1:19.21 and
Rosenthal at 1:22.27.
In the mile run, freshman Rachel
Park posted a time of 5:31.03, good for third place.
Sophomore Lauren Barber won the
60-meter hurdles at nine seconds flat.
Princeton took first and
second place in the pole vault, with senior Jessica Kloss taking top billing at
3.75 meters. Freshman Lydia Arias reached 3.65 meters for second.
Sophomore Thanithia Billings won the shot put, with a throw
of 14.22 meters, beating out all of her competitors by almost two meters. She went on
to take fourth in the weight throw at 15.00 meters.
Princeton also sent selected athletes to the New Balance
Collegiate Invitational at The Armory in New
York City. Sophomore Reilly Kiernan qualified
provisionally for the NCAAs in the 3000, with a time of 9:31.20.
Junior Liz Costello cruised to a 4:49.76 finish in the mile,
while sophomore Ashley Higginson came in at 4:53.96, and the 4x800 relay team
recorded an eight-place finish.
The Tigers will have one more tune-up before the Heptagonal
Championship, at the H-Y-P in Cambridge,
Mass., on Saturday, Feb. 14.
