Women's Water Polo Splits Games on Day 2 of Elite Six

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Princeton women's water polo team split a pair of games on Sunday at the Elite Six Invitational, falling to Michigan in an early-morning game and then defeating Harvard in the early afternoon. Junior Carolina Ardila scored in both games for the Tigers.
In the opener, the Tigers fell behind No. 14 Michigan early on as the Wolverines picked up a 12-5 win. The Wolverines used five first-quarter goals to build an insurmountable lead. Ardila scored three goals in the loss to lead the Tigers, while sophomores Julie Phillips and Sierra Schelegle added goals. Sophomore Christina Michel had 10 saves in the loss.

The Tigers rebounded with a 13-6 win over Harvard in their final game of the weekend. Princeton built a 3-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as it ran to its second win of the season over the Crimson. Princeton led by three at the half and extended the final margin over the final two quarters.
Junior Phoebe Champion led the offense with six goals in the win and her classmate Helen Meigs added four more. Eight of Princeton's 13 goals in the win came in man-up situations. Freshman Kristen Ward made 14 saves.
