LOS ANGELES ? The Princeton women's water polo team split a pair of games on Saturday at the LMU Invitational, falling to 11th-ranked Cal State Northridge 6-5 and defeating Colorado State 11-4.
The Tigers got off to a good start against the Matadors, scoring three goals in the first quarter and building an early lead as Brunner, junior Carolina Ardila and freshman Audry Zak all scored on exclusions in the first quarter to give Princeton a 4-1 lead.
Brunner added a goal midway through the second quarter to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead, but the Matadors closed out the half with three goals in the final 2:11 to draw even at 4-4 at halftme. The first of the three goals came on a 5-meter shot and the last came with just 10 seconds left in the half.
When the game resumed, Cal State Northridge took its first lead two minutes into the third quarter but sophomore Sierra Schelegle brought Princeton even with 2:29 left in the third quarter.
