Frick and Pessala to Compete in NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS (3/10/09) ? Senior Alex Pessala and junior Justin Frick have been selected to compete in the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship, it was announced by the NCAA on Monday, March 9.
Pessala is seeded No. 9 in the weight throw, after tossing a personal-best 21.09 meters (69' 2.25”). He steadily improved over the season and now ranks third in all-time in Princeton program history.
Frick earned the No. 8 seed in the high jump and is ranked fifth in the USTFCCCA rankings in the event. His best leap of the season was 2.20 meters (7' 2.5”) besting his previous height by a quarter of an inch to maintain his third-place standing in the program records book.
Princeton is ranked No. 35 in the final USTFCCCA Team Rankings. Two other Tigers are ranked as the best in their respective fields. Senior Duane Hynes is ninth in heptathlon but is done competing after suffering an injury. Freshman David Slovenski is ranked No. 20 in the pole vault but did not make the top 14 selected to the tournament.
The championship will be held March 13-14 at the McFerrin Athletic Center in College Station, Texas.
